Tip n°1:Get rid of your dirty oven with everyday products
You’re not really a fan of chemical strippers but you don’t know how to get rid of dirt stuck here and there in your oven? Do not panic: with a few everyday products and 100% natural solutions, you will be able to overcome them without getting tired or putting your health at risk. To clean an oven in the rules of the art, it is necessary to proceed with a minimum of method! That’s why before tackling the inside of the oven, always start by cleaning the grills of your appliance. For this, there is a very simple method:
Remove the oven racks, and if you have the space, put them in your sink.
Then wash them with hot water, dishwashing liquid and a conventional sponge (using the non-abrasive side).
If dirt persists, simply use a nylon brush or the abrasive side of the sponge.
Tip n°2: degrease the oven with baking soda
Baking soda , a well-known household ally of our grandmothers and clever cleaning enthusiasts, is also ideal for helping you clean your oven . 100% ecological, it also has the merit of being available in all stores and of being as efficient as it is economical.
Pour 6 tablespoons of baking soda into a bowl, then add 2 tablespoons of water.
Apply the resulting paste to the walls and greasy surfaces of your oven, and leave to act overnight.
The next morning, rub gently, then rinse with a damp sponge. Grease stains and encrusted dirt will not have resisted, and your oven will be like new!
Tip n°3: clean the oven door with white vinegar
To clean an oven properly, we must not forget the visible part of the iceberg, namely the door! Indeed, between fingerprints, stains and splashes, the latter is often almost as dirty as the oven itself.
To clean it and make it shine without using too aggressive products, concoct a homemade product based on 125 ml of baking soda and 45 ml of white vinegar (another flagship product for smart, economical and ecological cleaning).
Using a damp cloth soaked in the white vinegar -bicarbonate of soda mixture, gently rub the door of your oven, then rinse with clear water. Your oven probably already looks much better with a clean door!
Tip #4: Clean your oven with baking powder
Widely used in Canada -especially in cooking recipes for its leavening power, a bit like yeast-, baking powder is, like baking soda, a natural product that it is quite possible to use. Made up of a mixture of cornstarch, baking soda, and monocalcium phosphate, you can find it in stores under its trade name of “Magic Powder” or simply “magic powder.”
To use it, it’s simple: just pour 10 teaspoons of baking powder into a bowl, add a little water to create a homogeneous paste, and apply the mixture to the interior walls of the oven. Leave on for about 12 hours, then rub gently with a sponge and rinse with clear water!
Tip n°5: scour your oven with lemon
To scour the dirty and clogged walls of an oven, there is no need to buy specific products from the supermarket. Yes: you probably already have an ingredient in your kitchen fruit basket that can help you get rid of dirt in many rooms of the house… lemon ! Renowned for its freshness and good smell as well as its degreasing and antibacterial properties, lemon can indeed help you scour the inside of your oven in a totally healthy and natural way. Here is how to proceed:
In two separate bowls, squeeze and collect the juice of two lemons.
Dip a sponge in one of the two bowls, then dampen the walls of your dirty oven by tapping the sponge on it.
Leave the lemon juice on for at least 5 minutes.
Then place the second bowl that contains lemon juice in your oven, then turn it on and heat it to 250°C for about 30 minutes.
After half an hour, the residue and dirt will be much easier to remove: simply rub the walls of your oven with a sponge to get rid of it!
Tip n°6: recover the walls of your oven with newspaper
If you want to become a fan of economical and ecological cleaning, lose the reflex of systematically throwing away your newspaper after reading it. You probably don’t know it, but it can indeed help you during your “house cleaning” sessions… starting with cleaning the dirty walls of your oven. To make the interior walls of your oven shine with newspaper, it’s simple:
Take a (double) sheet of old newspaper, roll it into a ball, then dip it in a bowl of water to moisten it (not too much or you’ll get a shapeless dough!).
Simply rub the walls of your oven with your newspaper and admire the result: without any particular effort, your oven is like new!
Good to know : newspaper can also be useful and used to clean dirty windows, or the glass door of a fireplace insert!
Tip n°7: clean the greasy walls of an oven with the clay stone
